Marina Toybina wants to “break the standards” of the fashion world. The Russian born Californian
designer sets herself apart from other emerging designers out of L.A. by taking an inward
approach to Glaza, “I truly love everything about the way fashion used to be, what it stood for, the
changes it brought to generation after generation and that’s why I try to maintain a couture unique
feel to my line that can carry on that meaning,” states Toybina. The fashion line favored by Tommy
Lee, Usher, Dave Navarro, the Pussy Cat Dolls, and Eva La Rue is a modern version of the 16th
and 17th centuries with a flair for luxury.
Glaza is not your average Indie clothing label. Toybina who was raised in Moscow uses her
childhood rich with art history as an inspiration for her work today. Toybina emphasizes, “To me,
fashion is making wearable art.” Wearable art is an understatement when it comes to Glaza, and
Toybina is the humble designer who works with her own set of private clients.

“I don’t support commercial fashion and have never been a fan of mass
production,” she explains. “A lot of the work I do is handmade and
sometimes I don’t even keep my patterns so that I can’t replicate a certain
style or design,” Toybina continues, “I don’t design by trends or seasons, I
don’t follow the rules of the fashion week, I don’t pay much attention to
regulations of design, I just do my art and somehow have been able to
create an amazing following out of my own philosophy.” With her impressive
artistic direction Glaza will enchant us all in seasons to come.

should be, misunderstood, unexplainable, and different.”
