Queen B:
 DJ
Patricia
Patricia Starr has risen to the top of her game and nothing is getting in her way.  As New York’s
number 1 female DJ the Polish born ex-model is a long way from her hometown of OLSZTYN
where music was narrow and DJ Patricia was out of the loop with the hip hop and house scenes.

When she first came to the U.S. from a visit she never returned home from in the mid 90’s DJ
Patricia was quickly drawn into hip hop and freestyle but it wasn’t until she saw the legendary
Junior Vasquez in action that she really began to develop a love for House music.  Quickly learning
the art she began to DJ in the NYC club circuit where she rose to being a key player very early on in
the game.  Having played with some major talent helped her secure residencies at NV and Chaos
two major posh celebrity stomping grounds.

As one of the first ever female DJs to hold multiple residencies DJ Patricia is now one of the
promoter favorites spinning the legendary China Club and celebrity parties on a regular basis.
The New York heavy weight is now touring, Canada, Europe, and Africa.  Coming off of working
with Belgian singer Lynn Verlayne and touring in Greece DJ Patricia’s work schedule is most
peoples’ dream as a jet setting glamorous artist that actually makes a living.   Patricia spoke with
Miasma recently and she had this to say:

Miasma:  What is it like going back to Poland with your status as a DJ now?

DJ Patricia:  It's nice; I have gone to Europe to DJ many, many times but never Poland. Now I have
the opportunity to do a whole tour in 8 different cities, it's a wonderful thing.

Miasma:  Who have you worked with lately that's been really exciting?

DJ Patricia:  As far as DJ's recently I played with Deep Dish, David Morales, and David Waxman.
It's always exciting to play with the "big guys".

Miasma:  How was your experience working with Verlayne?

DJ Patricia:  She was very good to work with.  The song should be coming out soon.  It's titled
"Feel You Breathe".

Miasma:  Do you have a CD in the works?

DJ Patricia:  I will be putting out a Mix CD which will be available on my website WWW.
DJPATRICIASTARR.COM and I’m also teaming up with new singers so it should be a busy
summer/fall.

Miasma:  Who have you always wanted to work with but still have not?

DJ Patricia:  I always wanted to work with MADONNA but they list goes on. I'd like to work with Kelly
Clarkson, Gwen Stephanie, and Christina Aguillera. DJ wise I'd love to work with Tiesto.

Miasma:  Well, so far you’ve definitely met and performed for many celebrities, are there any
celebrity parties that you can discuss?

DJ Patricia:  One of my monthly residencies is Turntable Tuesdays @ Scores Westside and that's
an industry and celebrity infested party. They often come up to the DJ booth for a breath second.
Usually it's no big deal with the exception of Lindsay Lohan’s appearance which generated a lot of
heat.

Miasma:  Which was a lot of press attention involving you name.

DJ Patricia has a raw talent that she has spent years mastering and continues to be a student as
well as a Maestro Electonica.  Since her ascend to the top of the NYC list she has purposefully
continued to broaden her horizons and push to be better using an arsenal of House , Electro ,
Tribal and Progressive beats.  It won’t be long before we see her name on one of her “hope to
work with” stars’ albums.
I'm not too fond of dishonest and lazy promoters, and
even though I barely deal with them anymore they are
still around. A nightmare for every DJ.
Anyone starting out should learn to DJ with turntables and vinyl, whether it's
serato or real vinyl. It just makes you more powerful as a DJ. These day's new
DJ's rely too much on beat counters and even computers to mix and given a
situation that those are unavailable they can't mix. Do yourself a favor and
learn the art of DJing properly.
